Why the Cheapest Garment Supplier Is Not Always the Lowest-Cost Supplier
2026-08-20
A lower unit price doesn't always mean a lower total cost.
For fashion brands, the real cost of a product can also include:
• Development time
• Sampling delays
• Quality issues
• Rework
• Excess inventory
• Late deliveries
• Communication problems
• Missed selling opportunities
For example, saving $0.30 on a garment may look attractive.
But if inconsistent quality leads to returns, markdowns or delayed deliveries, that initial saving can quickly disappear.
We believe supplier evaluation should go beyond the quotation.
The better question is:
“What is the total cost of working with this supplier?”
A reliable supplier should not simply help you buy cheaper.
They should help you reduce unnecessary risk throughout the product lifecycle.
That's an important part of how we think about fashion supply chains at Golden Pampas.
